MERIDA

MERIDA’s company founder Ike Tseng (1932–2012) was a very honour-able person and a real visionary. During a trip through the USA at the beginning of the 1970s, he discovered a note at the door of a bike shop stating that no bikes from Taiwan were accepted for repair due to bad quality. This annoyed Ike Tseng – and already shortly after, in September 1972, the first production plant of his company Merida Industry Co., Ltd. was opened in Yuanlin (Taiwan). The man whose life motto was “move with passion and courage” chose the name “Merida” intentionally: The rough translation of the three syllables “Me-Ri-Da” means that the company’s intention is to manufacture only beautiful and high-quality products enabling anyone to reach her or his destination as pleasantly as possible. But Ike Tseng wouldn’t have been himself if he had been satisfied with the successful realization of his plan to be able to offer high-quality bikes “Made in Taiwan”. So in 1988, he took the second big step by launching the independent brand MERIDA: In accordance with the corporate philosophy, the frames of a complete range of sophisticated and internationally recognized bikes should be graced deservedly by the three syllables “Me-Ri-Da”.

MOUNTAIN BIKES

Merida mountain bikes are built for performance off-roading. They're ready to take on trails, singletrack or the park path.

MERIDA BIG NINE 500

MERIDA BIG NINE 500

Quick and capable on sweeping singletrack. The Merida Big Nine 500 is an XC hardtail mountain bike with rapid rolling 29” wheels and an efficient component spec.

The lightweight Techno Formed aluminium alloy frame features modern 29er XC geometry, with a longer top tube shorter stem and slacker head angle, that offers improved downhill stability while maintaining climbing prowess.  The 29” wheels offer fast rolling performance over single track and rough terrain. The RockShox fork offers 100mm of smooth suspension travel to soak up the hits on the trail and features a lockout for efficiency on smoother surfaces.

The Shimano Deore 2x10 speed drivetrain offers reliable shifting with a wide gear range that is much easier to use than traditional triple chainset systems. The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes deliver confident, all-condition stopping power when the trail points downhill.

ROAD BIKES

Merida road bikes are lightweight, stiff and strong for maximum efficiency on the tarmac. They're also surprisingly compliant for comfort too. Their years of frame building experience and knowledge gives Merida road bikes exceptional performance.

The Ride is their 'comfort racer' whilst the Scultura is the all-rounder and appeals to beginner / intermediate riders. The Merida Reacto is the standout road bike and is the model Team Lampre-Merida use for pretty much all their races.

MERIDA SCULTURA 200

Merida Scultura 200 Bike is a road bike that is great for beginners. The Scultura is a great all-round road option, that balances speed with long ride comfort. This makes it suitable for longer or shorter rides, training and racing. It has been fitted out with quality components, including Shimano's sure-shifting Sora drivetrain and a fast-rolling pair of alloy wheels clad in Maxxis treads, with a fat contact patch for confidence at speed and in the corners.

The Scultura frame platform is favoured by Team Lampre Merida in the UCI Pro Tour, meaning models throughout the series benefit from the research and technological innovation that goes into building a bike to perform at the highest level.
A tapered head tube provides more strength and stiffness through the front end of the bike, which means improved overall handling. Flex Stay technology in the rear allows the frame to offer some vertical movement, which is designed to absorb bumps and vibrations to create a more comfortable ride.

Internal cable routing provides a clean aesthetic as well as protecting the cables and prolonging their lifespan.
