💬Description
💬Description
FR J Club 390 Kids Skates — a premium junior skate for young skaters moving on from their first pair into urban skating, freeride and freestyle, built to the same thinking as FR's adult performance models.
The three-wheel setup sits low to the ground, which is what makes this skate quick to turn and easy to control at speed. It also takes larger wheels later, so the skate can be upgraded as the rider gets stronger rather than replaced.
The shell has a recessed front mounting platform that drops the frame closer to the ground. Lowering the ride height improves stability and power transfer without dulling the response, which is the change you feel most against a standard junior skate.
Most expandable junior skates rely on a sliding shell. The FR J range keeps a rigid one-piece shell instead and grows with the child through a 3-in-1 nested insole system: three insoles sit inside one another and come out one at a time as the foot lengthens, covering EU 32-34 through to EU 40-42. Keeping the shell rigid preserves the precision and foot support that an adjustable mechanism gives away.
The rear wheel is rockerable, so flipping the axle gives a curved setup that makes slalom and freestyle turns easier to hold.
Everything is screwed rather than riveted, so worn parts can be replaced individually instead of writing off the skate.
A brake is not included. An optional brake is available separately.

📏FRJ Size Chart
Unlike many junior skates with expandable plastic mechanisms, the FR J range uses a robust monobloc shell combined with 3-in-1 insoles — significantly more durable, precise and supportive. Each pair covers a bracket of EU sizes, with the insole layers taking up the internal length. Match your child’s foot length in cm to a bracket below. The Shell column is that bracket’s shell / soulplate size.
How to measure: Place a sheet of paper against a wall on a hard floor. Stand the child on it with their heel against the wall and mark the tip of the longest toe. Measure the distance in centimetres — that cm value is the size to match against the chart.
| Foot (cm) | EU | US | UK | Shell |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21 – 22 | 32 – 34 | 1 – 3 | 1 – 2 | 2 |
| 22.5 – 23.5 | 35 – 37 | 4 – 5 | 3 – 4 | 4 |
| 23.5 – 25 | 37 – 39 | 5 – 7 | 4 – 6 | 6 |
| 25.5 – 27 | 40 – 42 | 7.5 – 9 | 6.5 – 8 | 8 |
3-in-1 insoles
Each FR J pair ships with layered 3-in-1 insoles that adjust the internal length across the bracket (32–34 / 35–37 / 37–39 / 40–42). Run all layers to start, then peel one away as your child’s foot grows.
Fitting for COMFORT
Pick the bracket your child’s foot falls into and keep the full insole stack — the toe sits just short of the front with a little growth room.
Fitting for PERFORMANCE
Remove an insole layer so the foot sits snug now for better control; add it back / move up as they grow.
Monobloc shell
A robust one-piece (monobloc) shell — no expandable plastic mechanism, so it’s more durable, precise and supportive than a typical junior skate.
3-in-1 insoles
Layered insoles take up internal length so one shell covers the whole bracket — remove a layer as the foot grows.
Shell / soulplate
The shell & soulplate size is shown in the Shell column; replacement parts follow this number.
✓ How it should feel
Snug at the sides with toes just touching or reaching the front. A little growth room is fine — peel an insole layer for a tighter fit, add it back as the foot grows.
✗ How it should NOT feel
Toes curling up. Heel lifting after the buckles are tightened. Significant slop side-to-side even with the full insole stack in.
Size Chart Disclaimer. This chart reflects measurements supplied by FR. FR J kids skates use a monobloc shell + 3-in-1 insoles — each bracket covers a range of EU sizes (EU 32–42). We cannot be held responsible for incorrect size purchases — when in doubt, message us before ordering.
